The work “Unity” illustrate my thoughts about the saying of The Bundle of Sticks: “A single chopstick can be broken easily, but a dozen of them will hold firmly together”. What is the turning point of individual to union. Audiences can use the items(scissors & comb & yarn & chopsticks) to make changes to this work. Are we pretending to wrap the chopsticks and yarns together or actually we want to break them apart, or neither? If the comb is offered, will there be someone try to clean up the tie of the yarn?
“Unity” is part of the group exhibition “ Power Perspective Impermanence” presented by Shibo Chan, Yifan Chang, George Gildersleeve, Qingyuan Han, Andy Kajie, Boaz Schwartz, Tage Tang, David Wang, Cyle Warner, Kaya Warshawsky, Jocelyn Wu, Carina Xiao, Xiyue Zheng. Curated by Peter Garfield. The exhibition is held in 214 E 21st Street 2nd Floor Gallery & 4th Floor Project Room, SVA Photography Building, Dec 5-16.
